Like many things worth achieving in life, losing weight takes dedication, patience, and consistency. You must continually work on your weaknesses and bad habits, all while keeping yourself motivated enough to not give up when things get tough.

It is so important to stay positive throughout the duration of your weight loss journey, but sometimes, this is much easier said than done.

Doin’ It For: The French Riviera

For some, the road to weight loss can be a long and bumpy one.

*Raises hand*

Committing to your long-term goals, whatever they may be, can require a significant amount of focus, determination, and resilience. When the going gets tough and you start to question how you’ve found yourself where you are, it’s extremely important to keep in mind all of the reasons you wish to pursue the goal you’re chasing.

For me, it is a daily necessity to use my intended future life as a source of motivation and inspiration. Opposed to focusing on my present situation and weight (which isn’t going to drastically change anytime soon), I try my very best to regularly use my imagination as a weight loss tool.

Each and every day, I call to mind all of the things I plan to do and all of the things that will change for the better once I reach my goal weight. This practice has helped me immeasurably, so from time to time, I would like to share the dreams that help keep me on track.

Rely On Your “Why”

If you are someone who has repeatedly tried to lose weight only to give in to discouragement, motivation may be to blame for your lack of weight loss success. I know that this has definitely been the case for me.

Today, I’d like to share what has been keeping me focused during my weight loss journey, and hopefully encourage some of you along your way to finding motivation that actually works.

Dear John: It’s Not Me. It’s Most Definitely You.

You know what? Sometimes relationships simply don’t work out. As much as you may try to sweep the inevitable, ugly truth under the rug, all things come to the light eventually.

Today I had to end one of my longest relationships. *sheds fake silent tear*

I’ll be honest: I genuinely didn’t want to do it. Despite seeing all the signs of trouble, I thought we could work things out. I thought things would change… that I could change if only I worked just a bit harder.

Man. We’ve just been through so much together. Where did things go wrong? What pleasure did you get in calling me fat? What could I have possibly done to make you love me more? I only wanted for us to be happy together.

No. No, I’m not going to do it. I’m done playing the blame game, remember? What’s done is done and that’s the end of the story. I did everything I could to be faithful. The best thing to do now is pick myself back up and just move on. I’ll find someone new before I know it.

Stupid, stupid scale.
