Mastering Bun-free Burgers.

For many, burgers are the quintessential summer food. Versatile, easy, quick, and cheap, burgers are usually a crowd favorite at any backyard barbecue. No matter what kind of taste you crave, there is surely a burger out there that has your name written all over it.

However, if you are like me and you prefer to keep your diet as low carb as possible, the traditional bun-hugged burger may not suit your needs. Since giving up bread and many of its wheat-filled cousins, I have had to reimagine many of my favorite dishes. This includes the good old fashioned hamburger. 🍔🍟

I Couldn’t Believe My Eyes.

Happy Friday, everyone! 🙂

For today’s post, I am finally going to share the good news that I’ve been holding back. Despite meaning to talk about this as early as last week, other things kept popping up, pushing today’s announcement to the back of the bus.

Drumroll please… 🥁🎶😬

I Think I Got Carried Away…

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope all of you enjoyed your weekend (I know I did!). 🙂

Usually, Mondays are super rough for me. I typically have the hardest time coming off of a weekend, but today really surprised me. Instead of moping around with the Monday blues, I’ve had TONS of energy. Thank you, new diet.

In addition to feeling really good about starting a brand new week, I felt particularly inspired to try something new. What better way to experiment in life than in the kitchen?

Recently, I purchased a bag of frozen butternut squash. I wanted to turn it into a nice, velvety soup to accompany whatever protein I end up having for dinner this week. However, that isn’t exactly what ended up happening…

Saying Hello To My New Diet

In the great words of Shakespeare’s Juliet, “Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.”

This week, I’ve said goodbye to many foods and drinks. Some were old favorites that I will surely miss, but most were items that I’ve been meaning to eliminate from my diet for quite awhile.

As much as I’ve tried to avoid giving certain foods their pink slips, I have finally come to the conclusion that their dismissal is a critical, unavoidable step to creating the body I desire.

What Is That Smell??

Throughout my weight loss journey, I have experienced a number of changes.

Changes in the way I feel.

Changes in the way I look.

Changes in the way I eat.

Changes in the way I think.

Changes in the way I live.

For the most part, the changes I’ve witnessed so far are totally on par with what a person who is trying to lose weight should expect to see. However, nothing could have prepared me for the weirdest change yet. 😳

There Were Calories Aplenty… And Cheesecake.

Hi, guys! A most happy Monday to you all. I hope you had a great weekend.

If you’re a mom, happy belated Mother’s Day! And if not, I hope the special women in your life who are mothers had a beautiful Mother’s Day as well.

As for my mom, she says she had a lovely weekend. I too had an enjoyable weekend, but since I didn’t post, there’s plenty to get you caught up on.

My family and I celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday in order to avoid the crowds on the actual day. The Cheesecake Factory was my mom’s restaurant of choice, so The Cheesecake Factory is what we had.

Let’s Eat: Korean BBQ Chicken + Vegetable Fried Rice + Gamja Jorim

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you may have noticed that specific meals are rarely mentioned in my posts. The reason for this is that my diet has been as basic as basic gets lately.

When it comes to food, I am sometimes a creature of habit, so I never thought it would be very interesting for you guys to hear me eat the same thing over and over and over again. And even though I don’t mind eating the same things, I don’t particularly find it fun to write about the same old stuff day in and day out. 😴

However, I finally have a treat to share with you: Korean BBQ Chicken, Fried Rice, and Gamja Jorim (Korean braised potatoes).

Yum. 😋 🇰🇷

Spilling The Tea: Will Ginger Tea Really Help Me Lose Weight?

While I actually love iced tea in all of its different flavors, hot tea has never been my favorite. Perhaps this is due to all of the times my mother thrust it upon me as a kid. 😝

Anytime I so much as sniffled or sneezed, here she’d come with a piping hot mug of black or green tea. Sometimes it’d have honey in it and other times it’d have lemon, but each and every time I was presented with hot tea, I wouldn’t want to drink it.

As an adult, I’ve tried to expand my horizons and explore ways to enjoy tea more regularly. Upon investigating new and unique teas from around the world, I learned that many of them not only have interesting flavors, but are said to provide distinct health benefits as well.

I Was Lied To.

I recently acquired some kiwis, and needless to say, I was quite excited to eat them. But before doing so, I was curious to find out more about the kiwi and its nutritional benefits. This being said, I took to Google.

Sometime during my very serious, uber academic kiwi research, I happened upon a website that seemed to be the authority on all things kiwi. It had pretty pictures and sounded pretty legit, so I automatically believed everything they said–including the part about being able to eat the skin.

“The skin contains fiber and other beneficial nutrients,” they said.

“The skin is edible and quite tasty,” they said.

THEY LIED.
