Hey, At Least I Tried…

Today was the first official “celebration day” of my new diet and lifestyle.

I say “celebration day” instead of “cheat day” because I don’t view this particular concession of my diet as an opportunity to cheat. Yes, I am allowed one serving of food that has been “banned” from my day to day diet, but the goal has always been to adhere to my diet as much as possible each and every day.

If I find myself waking up on a holiday, my birthday, or a super special occasion worth celebrating, and I simply cannot take another breath without having one of my “banned” foods… fine. However, I have already made up my mind to be extra mindful about the choices I make on those particular rare days.

However, it is precisely this kind of mindset that got me into trouble at dinner this evening.

Doin’ It For: The Chance To Become A Rower.

I bought a rowing machine about two and a half years ago.

At first, I was so excited about it. Boy, did I have some high and mighty plans for that thing! I can still remember how I basically stalked UPS every single day until its box arrived at my doorstep, and how quick I was to drag it into my room to put it together.

This was not long after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. My (then) boyfriend and I had spent those few weeks watching various events together (but not without lightheartedly bickering over whose home country would win more medals– For the record, mine won). ☺️

Some of the events we watched were long-time favorites of mine like track, gymnastics, swimming, and diving. However, my boyfriend watched several sports that I had never spent time looking into before. First, there was rugby sevens, which I ended up loving. But then there was rowing, which left a favorable impression on me that has lasted until today.

But let’s get back to talking about that clothes rack– Ahem! I mean, my rowing machine. 😏

Saying Hello To My New Diet

In the great words of Shakespeare’s Juliet, “Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow.”

This week, I’ve said goodbye to many foods and drinks. Some were old favorites that I will surely miss, but most were items that I’ve been meaning to eliminate from my diet for quite awhile. 

As much as I’ve tried to avoid giving certain foods their pink slips, I have finally come to the conclusion that their dismissal is a critical, unavoidable step to creating the body I desire.

Running With Scissors: Why I’m Suddenly Cutting “Everything” From My Diet.

This is the moment that I’ve been dreading for a really long time.

In my mind, it is the point of no return. I’m either going to go all the way in or accept an early defeat. As tempting as it is to want to forfeit, I simply can’t. 

I don’t know. Maybe I’m too stuck on the images in my head, obstinately charging ahead with overambitious plans and no safety net.

Or… perhaps this is the exact type of attitude that will carry me through. Perhaps my goals aren’t unrealistic and far fetched at all.

I Can See The Light: A Month Two Review + A Thank You!

Now that I have embarked on the third month of my weight loss journey, it is time to take a look at the last 30 days. 

For anyone who is trying to lose weight or meet a particular fitness goal, I highly recommend keeping notes about your physical progress, as well as your mental/emotional ups and downs as you go along.

Although pictures of bodily changes may speak louder than words, nothing can replace the benefits of being able to go back and trace your various changes over time. After all, improving your health and transforming your body is just as much a mental feat as a physical one.

Tightrope Walker: Trying To Balance Weight Loss And Everyday Life Is A Major Fail

Hi, guys! Before we jump into the new week, I just want to wish all of my fellow Americans a very happy Memorial Day! I know it’s pretty late now and the day is nearly over (or perhaps completely over, if you’re reading this after the fact), but I still hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. 🇺🇸

I know I went MIA on Friday (sorry!), but there’s A LOT going on in my life right now that usually isn’t. I’m trying my best to juggle everything and acclimate to the change in pace, but it hasn’t been going very well. 😂

Even though I’m not the type of girl that likes to plan life out (at all), I desperately need to create and stick to a schedule, like, pronto. In fact, that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about today: balance and my lack thereof.
