Why, oh why isn’t working out like riding a bike? You know, just hop on and go like you never stopped riding in the first place?
It’s been at least two weeks since I last joined my online dance cardio class, and judging by the way it went, it’s been entirely too long.
Today’s Workout: 1 hour, 30 minutes. Cardio/Full body. Dance Cardio Class. No equipment—body weight only.
Overall, I did pretty dang well keeping up with today’s instructor. Even though I felt relatively sore and had to literally drag myself over to the computer to get my workout in for the day, I gave it the very best effort I could. It may not have been an award winning performance, but I’ll take it.
The biggest problem today was that I didn’t recognize most of the choreography. Like, at all.
Since the music playlist changes from day to day and class to class, there are some days when they play songs that I’ve never had a chance to learn. However, there is usually a core group of songs that get requested the most, so they tend to do those routines over and over for awhile since the songs are currently popular (ie. pretty much any of Ariana Grande’s latest songs).
When it comes to the frequently played songs, I have had a chance to learn and practice the moves for quite awhile now. However, I had been away from class so long that I had forgotten half the movements! I looked like a total noob. Good thing I was in the privacy of my own home; I would have hated to actually be in the class and have to look so awkward on the livestream. 😖
So there I was, trying my hardest to figure out what moves came next, flapping my arms about like I was drowning. It wasn’t cute. Even so, I didn’t give up.
There were times when even the instructor was like, “I don’t want to do this song. Who requested this?! You all need to get up here and lead then because I’m not about to do this one on camera.” 😂 It was evident that she didn’t know which movements went to which song either.
After all, there are so many songs. I can’t believe anyone can remember half of them, let alone all of them.
Let’s just say that I ended up doing some horribly improvised, but high spirited jerking movements for the entirety of one particular song because none of the choreography was making sense to me or the instructor! I figured it didn’t matter what I did as long as I burned calories.
SMH. I really need to learn how to dance.
But in other news…
I tried an Italian BMT wrap from Subway today; it was really, really good. Chi (my kitten) meowed and begged his little heart out the entire time I munched on it, so I could hardly eat in peace. I guess it smelled and looked pretty good to him as well. 😻
Then again, Chi eats cardboard boxes, digs things out of the trash can, and snacks on random (non-edible) items that fall on the floor, so I’m not sure if he’s the best judge, really. LOL. He’ll eat just about anything that fits in his mouth…
… or doesn’t.
Anyhow, the wrap had most of the toppings on it and came to approximately 800 calories. This being said, I’m not exactly sure that I’d get it again.
After all, I had a foot long turkey sandwich yesterday (also from Subway), which was 516 calories, so it’s like, why bother with all of those extra calories for nothing? 🤷🏽♀️
That’s honestly it for today! I’m trying to keep the majority of my posts short, so they aren’t always super long and time-consuming to read. I’ve been wondering if I should take a break from posting Fri-Sun for awhile as well.
For one, I could use some extra time to work on my book (It’s about weight issues and body image, so I’ll be sharing that at some point).
This aside, I also know that people don’t always have time to read blog posts on the weekends. I’m not sure what is best just yet, but maybe I will test it out this weekend and see how it goes.
‘Til tomorrow! 😊
Today was Day 46.
You know you can’t dance when you’re still trying to do the Macarena in 2019. 😅
